"Toilet coffin curse!" - Daily Sun

"She didn't know that her bad luck came from a... " - front page lead, August 27 2015

Daily Sun (27 August 2015) - IN THE middle of the ritual, the sangoma suddenly jumped up and ran off.

Without any hesitation, she stuck her hand into the pit toilet and made a horrible discovery.

WITH A STICK SHE PULLED OUT A BABY COFFIN COVERED IN KAK!

Hopefully the discovery of the coffin signals an end to the sorrow of the Monyai family, which started in 1995.

The family hired Muofhe Denga, a 32-year-old sangoma to help them because many family members were suffering from serious body pains. They suspected they may have been cursed because the family has had to deal with years of tragedy.

The sangoma visited them on Tuesday and performed some rituals inside their house in Mapetla Village near Ga-Rankuwa, Tshwane. But then she surprised everyone when she ran straight to the pit toilet. She went down on her knees and pushed the kak around.  Then she stood up with the small coffin in her hands.

Muofhe fainted and while she was recovering, a family member brought out the coffin which was covered in a black cloth.  When they looked inside they found the skull of an animal such as a dog or a sheep and the leg of a puppy. Gogo Martha Monyai told Daily Sun that she lost her husband in 1995.

And since then, five of her children have also died. “I wanted to know what was eating my family and I was told a tokoloshe was moving in the house, causing sickness and killing my family.” Martha said the sangomas she had hired before refused to get the tokoloshe out of the house. “They said it was too dangerous but they still took my money,” she said.  “It was only this young sangoma from Venda in Limpopo. I am so grateful that she has taken care of our problems.”

Sangoma Muofhe told Daily sun that the coffin was placed by evil people. “They wanted to see many people of the Monyai family die.  “The family members were getting ill from the stinking muthi inside the coffin when they sat on the toilet,” she said.

She added that the coffin and skull were used by jealous people to attract death to the family.

The puppy’s leg was used to cause body and leg pains.  “I will make sure that whoever put the spell on this family is punished in full,” she said.
