Craig Kesson's affidavit a malicious attack on my integrity - Patricia de Lille

Cape Town mayor challenges accusers to bring proof that she benefitted personally from any corruption or tenders

STATEMENT BY THE CITY’S EXECUTIVE MAYOR, PATRICIA DE LILLE

23 November 2017

In the past few days, many stories have appeared in media emanating from reports which served before a special Council meeting on Tuesday that were made public by the Speaker in the interest of transparency.

As it pertains to the affidavit, this is a malicious attempt to attack my integrity and track record as a whistle-blower and corruption fighter in South Africa.

This is sensation.

I want to remind the people of South Africa that under my leadership, the City of Cape Town received four consecutive clean audits – the only municipality in the country to have done so.

I challenge those who seek to attack my track record to bring any proof that I benefitted personally from any corruption or tenders.

My lawyers are preparing a comprehensive response to the allegations against me and this response will be made public when it is completed.

In the meantime, I stand resolute in my commitment to serve the people of Cape Town and I will not be distracted by these attempts to discredit my reputation as a corruption fighter.
