DA is only party realising Madiba’s legacy in SA – Refiloe Nt'sekhe

Party says Mandla Mandela is welcome to take issue to IEC and express his opinion of what he feels is honest account

DA is only party realising Madiba’s legacy in South Africa

4 July 2016

ANC MP, Mandla Mandela’s vitriolic attack on the DA’s latest television election advert, which will be aired this evening for the first time, is an affront to the principles which Nelson Mandela himself stood for.

Nelson Mandela is a national icon. As our nation’s first democratic president, his legacy, and the important democratic principles which he fought for, belong to all South Africans.

The DA’s election advert, which depicts the personal story of a voter in South Africa who draws on the memory of Nelson Mandela – and the ideals which he fought for - before casting her ballot for the DA is a manner consistent with the relevant code.

It is in fact the truth: the DA is the only party realising utata Madiba’s legacy in South Africa today.

Mandla Mandela is welcome to take the matter to the IEC if he wishes, and to express his opinion about what we feel is an honest and truthful account.

What this ugly attack does demonstrate, however, is that the ANC has changed. It is not a party of Madiba, committed to building a united and prosperous South Africa.

The DA will continue with airing of this advert. It will appear for the first time on SABC 1 tonight at 8pm. It can also be viewed on social media, through this link
