DA KZN leader wants to know when the ruling party will appear before Commission

Magaqa: How many more must die before ANC appears before Commission?

5 September 2017

The DA sends its deepest condolences to the family of Sindiso Magaqa, a former ANC Youth League Secretary General.

Magaqa has succumbed to his injuries after he and two other councillors were shot in uMzimkhulu in July. There is strong evidence that the attack was a political hit as Magaqa was questioning maladministration in his area.

I personally met Sindiso through Youth Parliament in 2006 and found him to be a brave young person who stood for what he believed in.

The political killings in KZN continue to rob our province of young people with a bright future. We have placed our hope on the Moerane Commission to give framework on possible interventions that may be use to end this bloodshed.

The passing of Magaqa will not just affect the ANC, but it will bring instability in uMzimkhulu which will translate in delays in service delivery.

We are concerned about the ANC’s delaying tactics in appearing before the Moerane Commission. We believe that as long as the ANC doesn’t commit to a date and time of appearing before the Commission, these political killings will continue.

Taking lives for positions and eliminating those that question irregularities must come to an end. The ANC leadership can no longer fold its arms while some in their ranks are hell-bent on crippling this province.

We call on the real leaders in the ANC to put an end to this slaughter.

As the DA we offer condolences to Magaqa’ s family during this tragic and sad time. May justice be served by finding and arresting those responsible for his death.
