This follows incident last year where ANC WCape PS was accused of hitting researcher Wesley Seale

Assault charges laid against ANC WC secretary

Cape Town - Criminal charges have been laid against ANC Western Cape secretary, Faiez Jacobs, who is accused of assaulting a researcher at the party's offices.

"I received a message from the complainant [Wesly Seale] sharing with me that he received a call from the SAPS that Cde. Faiez Jacobs is formally charged," party spokesperson Jabu Mfusi told News24 on Tuesday.

"His first appearance will be on 11 February 2016 at Cape Town Magistrate's Court," Mfusi said.

Jacobs is currently under precautionary suspension following the alleged assault.

It was reported that he hit Seale for failing to write a report on the organisation late last year.

Following the incident, the ANC placed Jacobs on suspension and instituted disciplinary proceedings against him.

The disciplinary action was still underway and Jacobs was expected to appear before the ANC's internal disciplinary committee on Saturday.
