Federation appeals to LOC members to come forward with information

COSATU calls on FIFA to red-card corruption

The Congress of South African Trade Unions has noted the allegations of corruption and bribery and also the subsequent resignation of the Global Football body, the Federation Internationale de Football Association [FIFA].

COSATU joins global Trade Unions in welcoming the resignation and the decision taken thou hard by Mr. Sepp Blatter, the FIFA President shows a display of taking responsibility when elected people are called to account.

COSATU has noted that South Africa as a previous host of the 2010 FIFA World Cup is cited and the Federation expresses its disappointment in such a trajectory.

COSATU joins all South Africans in calling all who have bribery information to come forward and share with competent authorities for a decisive action against that.

COSATU calls on all South Africans who served in the 2010 Local Organizing Committee [LOC] to come forward and provide information.

COSATU was represented in the LOC to safeguard interests of labour in hosting and construction of all infrastructure.

COSATU was at no given time appraised about any exchange of monies by some parties during the bidding process to curry any favour.

COSATU call for full disclosure whatsoever if there was any member of the LOC aware of such intransigent transactions to corroborate corruption claims made by one of the former member, Mr Jack Warner.

COSATU also calls on all LOC Members, who represented labour to share with the public how much was paid in bonus payments to promote transparency to the Federation’s constituencies.

Today, the citizens of South Africa deserve to be appraised on all development in relation the FIFA Legacy Projects to benefit communities and football fraternity and how far has such a project been closed, if it is indeed closed.
