ConCourt turns down Shilowa's request for direct leave to appeal - COPE

Lyndall Shope-Mafole says dismissal of application with costs a further vindication of our position

COPE @WORK BRIEFING CIRCULAR OFFICE OF THE GENERAL SECRETARY

WEDNESDAY 11TH DECEMBER 2013

DEAR MEMBERS OF THE CONGRESS NATIONAL COMMITTEE (CNC);

MEMBERS AND SUPPORTERS OF THE CONGRESS OF THE PEOPLE,

FELLOW SOUTH AFRICANS,

I am happy to communicate to you, on behalf of the National Office Bearers (NOBs) of the Congress of the People (COPE), that the application of Mr Shilowa and others for direct access, and direct leave to appeal, to the Constitutional Court regarding the judgment of Justice C Watt-Pringle in the matter of COPE and one other vs Shilowa and others has been dismissed with costs.

This ruling is further vindication of the correctness of our position as the Congress of People and enables the Party to continue with its work of preparing for Congress and the elections next year without further and unnecessary distractions.

Let us continue to advance the cause of the Congress of the People - the natural political home for reliable, accountable and incorruptible South Africans!

Sincerely,

LYNDALL SHOPE-MAFOLE (MPL)

ACTING GENERAL SECRETARY (AGS)
