Annette Steyn says Flippie Engelbrecht claims farm owner slapped and kicked him

DA condemns Overberg farmworker attack

The DA strongly condemns the alleged assault of a farmworker by a farm owner in the Overberg, Western Cape (see report).

According to media reports today, the farmer in question will appear in the Ashton Regional Court on 31 July 2013 charged with assaulting a farmworker, Flippie Engelbrecht on 25 January, 2008.

According to Engelbrecht, the farm owner slapped and kicked him so hard that his ears bled and he later started suffering from epileptic seizures. During a seizure in 2009, he fell into fire and was so badly burned that doctors had to amputate his hands.

The farmer has denied the attack.

The DA will closely monitor court proceedings and trusts that if found guilty, the farmer in question will face the full might of the law.
