"Hands Off Nzimande!" - YCL

Statement issued by the Young Communist League October 14 2008

YCL Response on the Alleged IFP membership of the SACP General-Secretary Cde Blade Nzimande!

The Young Communist League [uFasimba] notes the statement made by Mr. Justice Pitso, a former Provincial Secretary of the SACP in Limpopo, alleging that Cde Blade Nzimande was a member of the Inkatha Freedom Party. Pitso goes further to demand that Nzimande resigns on the basis of this allegation. We must state for the record that we do not doubt the bona fide of Nzimande as both a member of the SACP and ANC, and has without doubt led these structures at their highest level.

We should also indicate that Nzimande's leadership of the SACP and ANC came at the height of violence in KwaZulu Natal when it was not fashionable for people like Pitso and his company to join these.

The statement by Pitso falls squarely within an agenda to deal with the legitimacy of our General Secretary. The statement also smacks of tribalism, suggesting that all Zulu's are IFP members. Its intention is to replace the now failed attempt to smear him with an allegation of R500k, which was made by Pitso's friends. The statement by Pitso also smacks of bitterness as he was ceremoniously removed from his leadership position as SACP provincial leader.

We are aware as the YCL that Pitso is part of the Terror Lekota charade that intends to build a new political party, but are hell-bent to destroy the SACP and the Alliance before they leave these structures. They will not succeed. With this statement, Pitso has displayed the fact that he is a tailor-made political puppet who always holds no views of his own but survived by following the blind.

We call on Pitso and company to stop subjecting our country with 'cheap shebeen type' gossip which they always fail to back up. Theirs is merely a coalition of the self-righteous whose political background is littered with fabricated facts in order to feed into their careerism

Hands Off Nzimande!
