The election machinery is well oiled and ready for an overwhelming victory on the 3rd August 2016. We are confident that the ANC led government has a proud record of achievements. It is a concrete record of provision of housing, roads, health care, sports and community centers, the modernisation of our education system and economic transformation. We have been hard at work to improve the lives of all our people, and remain committed to doing more.

The provincial launch of the ANC Election Manifesto will take place on the 4th of June at FNB Stadium.

On Basic Education the ANC government is implementing a program of modernising public schools - this includes smart classrooms (tablets, smart boards), access to ICT. Schools of specialisation in key sectors of the economy are also being introduced.

The PGC noted successes in the school nutrition programme, as well as the scholar transport.

On Human Settlements the ANC government is implementing a program to electrify informal settlements, to provide service stands, and building more houses.

It also called for the creation of sports leagues in the wards working with Love Life and other stakeholders to keep young people occupied with activities to stimulate them.

The PGC reiterated the resolution on combatting substance abuse.

Governance:

The PGC congratulated the City of Ekurhuleni and Joburg for obtaining positive ratings by Moody’s and Fitch.

The PGC also congratulated the provincial government and municipalities for the positive impact of Ntirhisano and its War Rooms. This has contributed to the resolution of problems and generated a positive mood in our communities.

NWC Decision on the Constitutional Court judgement:

The PGC resolved:

1 To accept the apology of the President.

2 That the President, NEC and the whole movement must continue reflecting on the matter.

3 To continue to collectively defend the ANC and its work to improve the lives of our people, and will ensure a decisive victory on the 3rd August.

4 That no province has the authority to tell another province what decisions to take on organizational matters.

Thank you.
