Reinstate expelled NWU student – Christian View Network

End needed to forced indoctrination with LGBT ideology at all educational institutions

North West University must reinstate Shaun Christie expelled after hundreds of students walkout of forced LGBT indoctrination

10 February 2024

ChristianView Network along with multiple other organisations are demanding NorthWest University Vice Chancellor Bismark Tyobeka reinstate Shaun Christie, who was temporarily expelled for interuppting a forced LGBT indoctrination session as part of the first year orientation on Tuesday earlier this week, leading to most of the students walking out.  He is currently not allowed onto the campus.  We are also demanding an end to forced indoctrination with LGBT ideology at all educational institutions.  Shaun's video explaining what he did and showing the walkout has drawn 12,000 views in 24 hours.  All of the more than a hundred the comments thus far, support Shaun's actions https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKugbv6jp9o

Shaun Christie, a Christian law student has been suspended from University of Northwest for interrupting an LGBT indoctrination presentation for first year students this week. He said that they didn't want to listen to this nonsense, and were not given the same opportunity to speak about Jesus. Several hundred first year students agreed with him and walked out of the indoctrination session.

Afterwards a number of students spoke to the media saying they agreed with him, and that LGBT was being pushed as an ideology. The University is arguing that his actions prejudiced the free speech of the LGBT group, but the opposing students argue this was a forced presentation of an ideological viewpoint not relevant to their academic orientation, they did not want to listen to, and that they didn't have the same opportunity to present about Jesus.

Northwest University was called Potchefstroom Christian University, and was founded to promote Christian faith. It is the only university where biblical orthodoxy can be taught in theology, and had until recently a centre for study of biblical worldview. Northwest remains a strategic campus for Christianity in South Africa. Various political parties and public advocacy groups are supporting Shaun Christie.

A short while ago, The University of the Western Cape law faculty threatened a final year law student with not being allowed to graduate when he expressed views opposed to LGBT, abortion and feminism on social media. They arranged 'sensitivity training' (brainwashing) lessons for the entire class, implying that those who held patriarchal views on gender roles in the family, were responsible for the rape crisis in South Africa.

The 'sensitivity training' class demanded that the students answer a series of intrusive questions of which the only 'correct' answer was a 'politically correct' one - with the risk that those who didn't give the right answers would be further victimised. The University of Cape Town Faculty of Law Dean is not tolerating expression of pro-life views, which he claims are contrary to the Constitution, but he cannot say where in the Constitution.

Shaun Christie says: "If someone like me does not stand up against these injustices, who will? It is time for students to stand up for what is right and not remain silent because they are afraid of the power obsession from higher authorities. TO BE CLEAR We are not against any organization, culture group or the LGBTQ+ community.

We are standing for freedom! The freedom to choose what we believe and what we will listen to. We will not tolerate any agenda’s to be forced upon us against our will. This is not a stance against anyone but a stance for freedom."
