Sowetan report based on lies from anonymous sources - COSATU

Bheki Ntshalintshali says no truth in claim COSATU affiliates turned up heat against Vavi

COSATU Deputy General Secretary, Bheki Ntshalintshali, has today sent the following letter to the Editor of the Sowetan

9 April 2013

The Congress of South African Trade Unions is utterly disgusted at the report in today's Sowetan, headed: ‘Cosatu affiliates turn up heat on Vavi'.

The ‘report' is based entirely on lies from some anonymous ‘sources', who we are told "preferred to remain anonymous", for reasons that are obvious. The ‘sources' could not possibly have revealed their identity, since, beyond the fact that a meeting of union presidents and general secretaries took place on Monday 8 April, there is not a word of truth in any of the comments.

This pack of lies clearly comes from disgruntled individuals who are pursuing some kind of personal vendetta again COSATU General Secretary, Zwelinzima Vavi, all the national office bearers and the federation as a whole.

COSATU will not be deterred from the process which has been set in motion to discuss its internal affairs in a comradely and open fashion, and will unite to defend all its office bearers and the workers of South Africa from enemy agents within its ranks whose only aim is to discredit and destroy this mighty workers' organisation and sabotage its work to transform the lives of the workers.
