The ANC is Zuma / Zuma is the ANC - Mmusi Maimane

DA leader says ruling party has chosen to sustain a corrupt President in office

The ANC is Jacob Zuma, and Jacob Zuma is the ANC

Today the ANC in Parliament reaffirmed their unwavering support for President Jacob Zuma by voting against the Motion of No Confidence. They have chosen to sustain in office a President whose corruption is robbing our country of its massive potential and bright future.

We had sincerely hoped that the ANC would do the right thing, vote with their consciences and choose South Africa over Jacob Zuma. But we knew that was unlikely. If they would not support us in ending the corruption of Jacob Zuma, as they could have done, then it was important for the public to see for themselves how far the ANC has fallen.

Every ANC member of the National Assembly had a simple choice today: choose Jacob Zuma, or choose the future of South Africa. And the ANC proved again that they will always protect corruption and place their own personal interests over the best interests of the country. The ANC cannot be separated from Jacob Zuma. He is a symptom, not a cause. The ANC is Zuma, and he is the ANC.

The time is ripe for those who are angered at what they see happening to join the growing movement of South Africans who want to protect and defend the Constitution, and who want to fight to ensure no one can lie, cheat or steal the people’s money without facing the consequences and being held accountable. Those who care about the people, not about politicians.

The DA is more determined than ever to doing the hard work over the next 1000 days to ensure we remove the ANC from national government come 2019, so we can move South Africa forward again.
