NUM will strongly oppose the privatisation of Eskom

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) is extremely disappointed by the news or the rumours that there are intentions to sell parts of Eskom (see BDlive report).

"We want to remind those who are behind the rumours or even government if there is any intention or whatsoever to sell Eskom or part of Eskom that it will be resisted. Eskom is not for sale. There shall be no privatisation. This is a state asset. Anybody who wants to privatise Eskom must privatise his assets and not public assets like Eskom," said Frans Baleni, NUM General Secretary.

For us as the NUM, our members at Eskom are not for sale and we repeat that nothing about us without us.
