The EFF welcomes the arrest of four suspects in the murder case of the late MthokozisiNtumba who was gunned mercilessly in Braamfontein, Johannesburg. The four men are charged with murder, attempted murder and defeating the ends of justice. It must be noted that initially, these suspects denied shooting MthokozisiNtumba and claimed he fell to his death, essentially attempting to conduct a heinous cover-up for the murder they are accused of.

The EFF will closely monitor the case and ensure that the full might of the law is executed on the accused. We further reiterate the call for rubber bullets to be declared as inappropriate for crowd control as they violate human rights, and will take the matter up to the highest court in the land.

We are disgusted by reports that police continue to use brute force against students, particularly in Braamfontein where live ammunition has reportedly been used against a student who now has a bullet wound.

The South African Police are relentless in their violence and continue to characterise themselves as an enemy of the people. South Africans must unite and rise against blood thirsty thugs masquerading as police, and never allow murder to be a weapon against the constitutional right to protest.
