The front page and lead story of SA's largest daily newspaper, November 8 2013

Daily Sun (November 8 2013) - A BLEEDING woman ran into the yard of a cop shop to escape her knife-wielding attacker.

Only a few steps away was the entrance to the charge office . . . but 24-year-old Nthabeleng Hlebo never made it to safety.

WHEN COPS CAME OUT SHE WAS ALREADY DYING IN A POOL OF BLOOD -  FROM 11 STAB WOUNDS!

The killing happened at the Rietgat Police Station near Soshanguve, Tshwane, on Tuesday afternoon.

Witnesses said Nthabeleng, who lived in block W, had been waiting at the bus stop outside the cop shop when a man attacked her with sharp knives in both hands.

Bus passengers tried to stop the attack, but when Nthabeleng fled the few metres into the yard of the cop shop her attacker followed.

She was stabbed again and again in the neck, chest and hands.

Witness John Makwela told Daily Sun: "There were no cops outside the police station to rescue the screaming woman.

"When they came out of the charge office she was already dying in a pool of her own blood."

Nthabeleng's grieving sister, Lesego, told Daily Sun: "Nthabeleng was trapped in an abusive relationship. She had already reported her boyfriend to the cops after he stabbed her with a screwdriver last weekend.

"They have a four-year-old daughter together, but she told him she was ending the

relationship."

Cop spokesman Warrant Officer Sello Mangena confirmed to Daily Sun: "A suspect aged 31 was arrested at the scene.

"He appeared in the Soshanguve Magistrates Court on Wednesday and was kept in custody until his next court appearance."

About the horrifying murder, Mangena said: "Cops in the charge office were only alerted by the desperate screams of a woman who was begging for help.

"They quickly went out to investigate what was happening and were surprised to find a man stabbing a woman.

"They managed to disarm him but the woman was declared dead by paramedics called to the scene," he said.
