This is what cops told Daily Sun yesterday as they launched a massive manhunt for the Bafana Bafana captain's killers. They increased the reward for information leading to the suspects' arrest to R250 000. Senzo's dad, Sam Meyiwa, said now he has hope again.
"My son didn't have to die like that," Sam said. "But justice will prevail."
He said Senzo died a cruel and senseless death. "We are making arrangements to fetch Senzo's body and spirit and then we'll take him to his birthplace," his father said.
Two suspects, believed to be between 25 and 29, fled the scene with a cellphone after gunning down Senzo at actress Kelly Khumalo's Vosloorus home on Sunday night.
Provincial cop spokesman Brigadier Neville Malila said Khumalo and other witnesses helped police to create the identikits.
"Both suspects have dreadlocks, and they are dark in complexion," Malila said.
According to cops the one suspect is believed to be about 1,68m tall with a slender build and a gold upper tooth.
He was wearing a brown jacket with wool on the collar, and a hat with a check pattern.
The second suspect is slender and about 1,80m tall. He has a beard and moustache and was wearing a black hooded jacket.
Malila said: "We are pleading with members of the community to come forward with any information that might help us arrest the suspects."
) Senzo's funeral will take place in his hometown of Umlazi, KZN on Saturday.
There will be 10 000 seats for mourners at the local sports ground. The soccer star's family has hired a private detective to help cops find his killers.
Family spokesman and Senzo's cousin, Siyabonga Miya, said they wanted to help cops bust the killers as soon as possible.
"The family was encouraged by Pirates chairman Irvin Khoza's passionate plea for information on Senzo's murder," Siyabonga said.
Khoza visited the family in Umlazi on Monday. Pirates said they had asked the family to consider holding the funeral on Sunday because Olympic silver medallist Mbulaeni Mulaudzi's funeral will be held in Limpopo on Saturday. But they will honour the Meyiwa family's wish for the funeral to be on Saturday.
