8 AfriForum students suspended from Stellenbosch SRC elections
2 August 2016
Cape Town - Eight AfriForum Youth (AFY) students have been suspended from participating in upcoming SRC elections at Stellenbosch University due to alleged irregularities.
Three students filed an urgent application in the Student Court, alleging the eight AFY members had broken election protocol regarding campaign posters, electioneering, monetary limits, and caucus attendance.
All eight candidates were absent from a hearing regarding their candidacies on Monday.
The SRC elections had been postponed indefinitely until the eight candidates responded to the court's interim order. They had five days to respond.
