BROKEN LIFTS AT HELEN JOSEPH HOSPITAL

Nine out of 13 lifts at the Helen Joseph Hospital in west Johannesburg are broken, causing major inconvenience to staff and patients.

I visited the hospital last week on Friday and found that no action has been taken to fix these lifts since I reported them in October last year.

It appears that non-payment to a supplier is yet again the problem in this case.

This is really unacceptable.

The hospital is generally in poor condition. I often get complaints from patients about dirty toilets and corridors.

All suppliers should be paid on time, and lift maintenance should fall directly under hospital management, rather than the grossly incompetent Infrastructure Development Department.
