ANC STATEMENT ON GAUTENG MEC BRIAN HLONGWA
The African National Congress (ANC) has noted statements attributed to Gauteng MEC Brian Hlongwa on the purchase of a R7, 2 million home in Bryanston, north of Johannesburg.
The ANC believes that everyone has the right to defend himself against baseless allegations.
We are, however, concerned by Hlongwa's sentiment expressed in an interview with a daily newspaper that being Gauteng Health MEC was a service to the community and that he did not need the money because his businesses made 10 times more than his remuneration.
As a mass-based movement committed to serving the will of the people of South Africa, the ANC distances itself from the sentiment expressed by Hlongwa and calls on him to refrain from making statements that are inconsistent with ANC's vision and objectives.
