ANC desperately short of money - EFF

Fighters allege that R50m SSA theft an inside job aimed at rescuing the financial crisis confronting the ruling party

EFF STATEMENT ON THE THEFT OF 50 MILLION RAND WORTH OF FOREIGN CURRENCY AT STATE SECURITY AGENCY HQ

08 January 2016

The EFF notes that two suspects have appeared in court today in relation to the theft of R50 million worth of foreign currency at the State Security Agency (SSA) Head Quarters in Pretoria.

The EFF calls on the HAWKS to consider investigation of both the ANC's expenditure on the 104 birthday rally and associated parties, as well as election campaign preparations. The EFF knows as a matter of fact that the ANC does not have money to run the elections campaign this year and thus they are doing everything in their power to find money.

It is not explicable that criminals will brave their way into Head Quarters of the SSA without being tipped or working with internal officials. We have it on good record that this is an inside job aimed at rescuing the financial crisis confronting the ANC.

If SSA offices can be willy nilly raided by thugs whilst its operatives are busy bugging politicians, it raises serious concern on the safety of the country and its people.
