ANCYL welcomes dismissal of Masoga's attempted interdict

League maintains that all internal matters should be handled internally

ANC YOUTH LEAGUE WELCOMES THE DECISION OF THE SOUTH GAUTENG HIGH COURT TO DISMISS WITH COSTS THE APPLICATION FOR INTERDICT BY LEHLOGONOLO MASOGA:

The African National Congress Youth League welcomes the decision of the South Gauteng High Court to dismiss with costs the application for Interdict by former Limpopo ANC Youth League Chairperson, Mr. Lehlogonolo Masoga. After the case was struck off the roll, Mr. Masoga decided to approach the Court for the second time with the intention of interdicting the continuation of the internal disciplinary process of the ANC Youth League. The Court found his approach unbecoming and resolutely advised him to handle internal matters internally as he had committed when he withdrew the case on Tuesday the 13th of July 2010. The Judge said to Mr. Masoga that the FIFA World Cup is over, and that his Court is not a playing ground, implying what the ANC YL has been saying that those who are taking the organisation to Court do not take both the organisation and South Africa's Justice system seriously.

The ANC Youth League maintains that all internal matters should be handled internally, without the involvement of Courts. Once more, we call on all members to understand and internalise organisational principles of democratic centralism. The ANC Youth League National Executive Committee will be meeting on the 16th and 17th of July 2010 to make overall assessment of the organisation's readiness for the National General Council and reflect on all important organisational matters.

Statement issued by Floyd Shivambu, ANC Youth League spokesperson, July 16 2010
