BABY STOLEN FROM NATALSPRRUIT HOSPITAL
I am horrified that a baby boy was stolen from the Natalspruit hospital on the east rand on Wednesday this week shortly after birth (see EWN report).
It has been reported that the mother, Lindelwa Vivi (27), was discharged and left the side ward where the babies were kept to go to the bathroom. When she returned her baby was gone. Hospital management must investigate and tighten up security so that this never happens again.
Every effort must be made to ensure that baby snatching never occurs in our hospitals. It is a most wicked crime that must be punished severely. I hope that the baby is found soon and returned unharmed to his mother.
