Boxing SA board must suspend CEO - Solly Malatsi

DA MP says investigation needed into allegations levelled against Loyiso Mtya

Boxing SA board must suspend CEO

30 June 2014

The DA will today write to the Chairperson of Boxing South Africa (BSA), Ntambi Ravele, and request that they launch an investigation into allegations of corruption and fraud levelled against the body's acting CEO, Loyiso Mtya (see report).

Furthermore, we will request that he be suspended pending the outcome of this investigation in order to preserve the little integrity BSA has left.

Mtya was appointed as the acting CEO following his predecessor Moffat Qithi's suspension for failing to disclose his criminal record when applying for the job.

The fact that Mtya has now been allegedly implicated in a series of ethically questionable transactions, when he was appointed to restore prudent financial management and good governance at BSA, is a serious blow to the organisation.

BSA cannot afford another scandalous CEO who is not fit for purpose.

The DA hopes that the chairperson of BSA will act swiftly and probe Mr Mtya's alleged ethical breach.

Statement issued by Solly Malatsi, DA Shadow Minister of Sports and Recreation, June 30 2014
