THE BOARD OF INQUIRY ESTABLISHED TO INVESTIGATE ALLEGATIONS AGAINST GENERAL BHEKI HAS CONCLUDED ITS WORK & IS GETTING READY TO SUBMIT THE REPORT.
The board was established by President Jacob Zuma in November 2011 to investigate amongst others, Cele's fitness to hold office and allegations of misconduct relating to the two leases for office space for the police.
"When Judge Moloi opened the hearings on March 6th he promised the country a fair, inclusive, and transparent process that would also seek to protect the dignity of the person in question. We are happy to say we delivered on that promise" says Bongiwe Gambu Spokesperson for the Board.
During the hearings members of the public attended the hearings, heeding the call for participation by the judge.
A total of 25 submissions were received by email, one submission was personally delivered while two submissions were received via post. Ms Gambu says members of the board worked very hard going through the thousands of pages in documents that were submitted including testimonies, transcripts, arguments from both sides as well as public submissions.
"That process has been completed, the board has written the report which will soon be submitted to President Zuma, Cele himself, Parliament, the National Council of Provinces, as well as the Cabinet committees in charge of safety and security affairs.
