Western Cape Government will pursue criminal charges following porta-loo incident

This afternoon's incident, in which the human waste contents of porta-loos were spilled on the steps of the Provincial Administration & Legislature building, is absolutely disgusting and we are analysing camera footage to identify the culprits who, according to witnesses, are allegedly ANC Youth League members.

Once we have identified them, we will be pressing criminal charges. On the 23rd of May, the City of Cape Town was granted an interim interdict against seven identified ANC Youth League-linked residents and their supporters who spilled the contents of porta-loos on the N2 highway recently. As part of this interdict, these toilets (as City property) are not allowed to be removed therefore this was a criminal act. 

This is yet another blatant example of the "ungovernability tactics" that the ANC Youth League and its cadres are planning to use in the run-up to next year's election. Mayor De Lille recently initiated the "Know Your Community, Know Your Contractor" campaign to inform and engage communities about the City services they receive and which contractors are responsible. Yet the first public meeting was disrupted by hooligans led by ANC activists who were only interested in causing chaos.

By doing that, this rabble rousing minority deprived the reasonable majority of residents a chance to receive information they are entitled to and wanted to get. Everyone has a right to protest, but there can be no excuse for stooping to this disgusting behavior, especially when we are committed to open communication. This rabblerousing minority is only interested in politicking and disruption which, today shows, they will try to unleash by means both foul and filthy.
