COPE YM disturbed by burning down of Polokwane magistrate court

Organisation notes that this is the same court hearing the Malema matter

THE BURNING DOWN OF POLOKWANE MAGISTRATE COURT IS A CAUSE FOR CONCERN

FOR COPEYM.

The Congress of the People Youth Movement is deeply concerned about the Magistrate Court in Polokwane that was engulfed by fire today. This is the same Magistrate Court that is dealing with the high profile case of the expelled ANCYL President Julius Malema together his co-accused and business partner inter alia, Lesiba Gwangwa, who are both facing numerous counts of fraud, corruption and money laundering.

Our organization is concerned about the State information and evidences, against those who are facing numerous charges, which might have been destroyed during the fire. This unprecedented accident may inevitably prolong the case of Julius Malema while it is the desire of all South Africans see justice prevailing without being plagued.

The manner in which fire hydrants are positioned in the CBD of Polokwane also leaves much to be desired and as such this has greatly attributed to a amount of damage that could have been avoided, provided the municipality had an effective fire extinguishing plan in the town for accidents of this nature.

The Congress of the People Youth Movement is urging that thorough investigations must be conducted to establish the real cause of this fire. We are equally disappointed by Polokwane Municipality which was incapable to effectively respond to incidence of this nature as it took a long time for them to respond while the Magistrate Court is at a stone throw away from the municipality.
