DA colours used to brand WCape govt - Lynne Brown

ANC leader of opposition says legislature has dumped colours of the SA flag

Statement by Ms Lynne Brown, ANC Leader of the Opposition, Western Cape legislature, September 29 2011:

After weeks of obfuscation by the DA in terms of the alleged multimillion Rand corrupt communication contract, we understand why the DA's deployed cadres such as Nick Clelland-Stokes and Ryan Coetzee had to participate in the specifications, adjudication and awarding of the contract.

It was to make absolutely sure that the DA party colours now singularly brand the government and legislature of the Western Cape!

The DA self-righteously sees no separation between the party and state. You get up and accuse the ANC the ANC for all sorts of things, but here we have the proof of it.

Shameful! Throwing stones, when you live in glass houses!

More shocking though is the fact that the legislature has dumped the South African flag colours in its logo and replaced it with the DA's distinctive blue and white colours. This was done without any consultation and against the letter and spirit of our democracy.

Don't come here and pompously or piously pretend you support our democracy. Given an opportunity, you have violated the strong principles of separation between the party and state, as well as the executive and legislature.
