How can hospital 'forget' critically ill patient? - Jack Bloom

DA MP horrified at Sam Ndlovana's death at Mamelodi Day Care Hospital

HOW DOES HOSPITAL "FORGET" A CRITICALLY ILL PATIENT?

I am horrified by the story reported in today's Daily Sun newspaper of a boy who died at the Mamelodi Day Care Hospital after staff said they had forgotten about him and left him on a stretcher at casualty after he arrived there two weeks ago.

His family found Grade 8 pupil Sam Ndlovana dead in the mortuary after staff said they didn't have anyone by that name.

He was taken to the hospital after falling ill at an initiation school in the mountains.

There must be a full investigation into this matter. Action must be taken against any negligent hospital staff and the initiation school must also be held accountable for the apparent delay in taking him to the hospital after he fell ill.

I have received other complaints of bad treatment at the Mamelodi Hospital. Better management is urgently needed at this hospital.
