Joemat-Petterson missed meeting - TAU SA

Agricultural union says minister cancelled meeting without giving proper notice

TAU SA angry because Minister ignores another meeting

The Executive Committee of TAU SA has noted with serious discontent that a scheduled meeting with the Minister of Agriculture, Ms Tina Joemat-Petterson, cannot continue. TAU SA only coincidentally learned that she is abroad without giving properly notice that the meeting could not continue.
"The Executive Committee travelled to Pretoria with great difficulty and at large expenses for the appointment, and everyone was disillusioned to take notice only hours before the meeting that it will not take place," said the president of TAU SA, Ben Marais. "It was the second time that a similar meeting was cancelled while severe cases were to be discussed. The fact that the Minister rather decided to travel abroad than to meet with the countries own farmers gives us the idea that she should rather have the portfolio of Foreign Affairs than that of Agriculture. We simply have no ear for ours problems and also not for our constructive suggestions. It was due to similar incidents and other issues that TAU SA sent an open letter to the president Zuma demanding for an appointment within two weeks to address these and other issues. These two weeks are almost over and we have not even received an acknowledgment of the Presidency, and now history repeats itself. "
The Executive Committee has decided to give Pres. Zuma the full two weeks to respond and to make an appointment with TAU SA before alternative action will be made public.
