LET’S VIGOROUSLY DEBATE CURRENT ISSUES ON FACEBOOK
Congress of the People is a party that is very strongly and passionately committed to the Constitution.
Our policymaking derives directly from the Constitution. Nelson Mandela was rightly very proud of our constitutional achievement. When he put his signature to it he felt strengthened that South Africa had indeed made a new beginning and that it had purposefully chosen a new path to walk into the future. Our Constitution was hailed by people all over the world as a remarkable document. Therefore, as admirers of Nelson Mandela's unique leadership, we seek to honour him and to preserve his legacy by devoting ourselves to making the Constitution really come alive.
We know that if and when political parties abide not only by prescripts of the Constitution but by its spirit as well, South Africa will once again become the darling of the world and a haven of peace and opportunity for all who live in it.
The difficult economic times we are in, combined with the extravagance and wastefulness of the Zuma administration, have created many new political and social tensions in our country. Racial issues are also once again polarising fellow South Africans. We need therefore to make the Constitution come alive so that people see the constitutional path as the only agreed way to surge forward. We need to do this urgently because we are once again, unfortunately, sitting on a ticking time bomb.
