ANC rejects malicious rumour mongering newspaper allegations

7 August 2023

The African National Congress (ANC) rejects as malicious the rumour-mongering allegations made in a Sunday newspaper about a non-existent intelligence operation to counter claims of electoral sabotage by former President Jacob Zuma and former ANC Secretary-General Ace Magashule. This is said to have been at the behest of President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Unsurprisingly, the instigator behind these fallacies has been previously reported to be engaged in delusional assertions directed at undermining the ANC and its leadership. As has happened previously, these efforts will fail once more. In any case, the ANC has no such capability nor an appetite for waging covert operations against anyone individual or interest group.

Our singular focus is two-fold; renewing the organisation and winning back the hearts and minds of our people. We will do so by communicating our unambiguous message about the thirty years of democracy and the role of the ANC in leading transformation.
