Progress made on killing of Moss Phakoe
The Congress of South African Trade Unions in the North West would like to congratulate the new investigating task team on the progress they have made thus far by arresting one of the suspects in the murder of Moss Phakoe.
We are told that the suspect is one of the bodyguards and drivers of the former mayor of Rustenburg, Mathew Wolmarans. At the time of his arrest the same person was the driver of the current mayor of Rustenburg.
What does this mean to the poor workers and the poor family of Moss? It can't be correct that the man who is close to the killers is a driver of our political leaders.
As COSATU we demand that the suspect must not be given bail until he discloses who his masters are and why he killed Moss Phakoe. We also call on the police to speedily and swiftly move and arrest all others who are implicated on this matter.
We want thank all members of the communities, members of COSATU, members of the ANCYL , SACP , MK who were part of the demonstration and picketing at Rustenburg magistrates court today. We will be back again on 16 August 2011.
