MANTASHE IGNORANT ABOUT MDLULI
"Gwede Mantashe's, the secretary general of the ANC, remark that he cannot understand the fuss and hullaballoo being made about Richard Mdluli, shows his ignorance. Mdluli isn't an ordinary civil servant but holds a position which is extremely strategic in the combating of crime. Crime affects every citizen of this country and threatens everyone's safety and life. The public has a right to be assured that everything is being done to combat crime (see City Press online report).
Mdluli's actions, as head of crime intelligence, are therefore very important. When there are however charges of murder, corruption and abuse of power made against such an official who has to protect us against crime, the public should be informed properly," Mr. Pieter Groenewald, chief spokesperson on Police for the Freedom Front Plus says.
"If the Minister of Police, Mr. Nathi Mthehtwa, had from the start acted correctly and upheld Mdluli's suspension there would not have been a fuss or hullaballoo. Mantashe should rather ask Mthethwa to explain the matter to him," Groenewald said.
