ANC statement on matric results
The African National Congress welcomes the outcome of matric results as a sterling performance of the class of 2012. The performance of the matriculants has been consistently improving for at least the last four years. This has vindicated the strategy employed by the department of education in ensuring that our education outcomes are achieved. We take this opportunity to congratulate the Department of education, the Minister, parents, teachers and students for sterling work.
We are particularly encouraged by the marked improvement of performance in key subjects of Maths and science. This vindicates our effort to ensure that Maths and science is mainstreamed and receive the necessary attention.
We want to acknowledge the progress made by all provinces and Gauteng in particular. This augurs well for our national drive to get South Africans and young people in particular to achieve educational success in view if the development challenges facing our country, the region and our continent. We call on the tertiary education institutions to ensure that these matriculants get the necessary help to enroll with higher educations institutions. Well done to the class of 2012!
