Gauteng govt promises to take care of crash victim's medical needs

THE GAUTENG PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT VISIT FAMILY OF THOMAS FERREIRA

The Gauteng Provincial Government, led by Premier Nomvula Mokonyane, has today visited the family of a matric pupil who is in a critical condition at Krugersdorp Hospital after being knocked down allegedly by the official vehicle of a Gauteng MEC over the weekend.

Thomas Ferreira, 18, of Krugersdorp was hit by an official vehicle of Local Government and Housing MEC Humphrey Mmemezi.

Mokonyane made a commitment to the family that the provincial government will take care of Ferreira's medical needs.

The Ferreira family has also made a passionate plea to the media to give Thomas space to recover peacefully. They have also asked that they be afforded an opportunity to see the young man back to health without the pressure of media enquiries.

The Provincial Government has also promised to cooperate with the due processes of the law as the accident is being investigated. A full statement will be issued once the probe has been completed.
