Executive Mayor introduces his MAYCO

Oudtshoorn, 26 August 2015 – The Executive Mayor of the Greater Oudtshoorn, Aldm Wessie van der Westhuizen has this week announced his Executive Mayoral Committee (MAYCO) and also confirmed that he will remain the mayor of the Greater Oudtshoorn.

Aldm Wessie van der Westhuizen held a string of meetings with Oudtshoorn Municipal officials introducing his newly appointed members of the MAYCO. During these meeting Aldm van der Westhuizen also confirmed that he will remain the Executive Mayor of the greater Oudtshoorn.

“I am happy that I have been granted an opportunity to lead Oudtshoorn especially at a time when a huge task of restoring the dignity the town and recovery to absolute good governance has been started,” he said.

Van der Westhuizen indicated that his political party, the Democratic Alliance (DA) has assigned him as Mayor for Oudtshoorn until the end of the Provincial & National intervention process and thereafter this decision will be reviewed.

Aldm van der Westhuizen furthermore announced the following councillors as chairpersons of the following portfolio committees as members of his MAYCO:

Strategic Services: Aldm Jurie Harmse

Finance: Julia Le Roux Krowitz

Corporate Services: Benardus van Wyk

Technical Services: Johan Fourie

Community Services: Raymond Wildschut

Cllr Christiaan Macpherson and John Stoffels remain the Speaker and deputy mayor of Oudtshoorn.
