ANC: REPORTED PLOT TO POISON ANC PROVINCIAL CHAIRPERSON FABRICATED LIES
Media reports that there is a plot to poison the African National Congress Chairperson Cde Senzo Mchunu are nothing but a pack of lies designed to sow divisions among ANC leaders in the province, the ANC Provincial Secretary, Cde Sihle Zikalala said (see report).
"Allegations that there is a plan to poison our chairperson have shocked us and we view them as nothing but fabricated lies which are directed at dividing our glorious movement. No one in the ANC leadership knows anything about the reported attempts to poison the Chairperson and equally no one knows about the reported intelligence report which is said to have revealed that there was an attempt to poison food prepared for Cde Mchunu," Zikalala added.
The allegations that there was a plan to poison the ANC Chairperson were part of the ongoing campaign aimed at stopping the ANC from implementing its programmes and serving the people of the province. "As the ANC leadership we dismiss these reports as one of the serious efforts of those who peddle lies.
We share the common understanding that we will not allow people to divert our attention from organisational task of strengthening our movement and serving the people of this province. The reported fierce contestation for leadership positions does not exist as the ANC in KZN will only have the conference in 2016. The ANC lives with a principle that issues of positions are only discussed openly when there are conferences. There will be no conference in the near future and we are busy with our serious organisational programmes,"
Zikalala called on ANC members and supporters not to be hoodwinked by the fabricated reports, saying that the entire ANC membership should focus on serving the people and consolidating the ANC support in the province. "The reported alignment of the national leadership issues is equally misleading and non-existent. We have heard people talk about this before; it's all a pack of lies."
