ECONOMIC FREEDOM FIGHTERS ON THE NKANDLA REPORT BEING DECLARED TOP-SECRET:
Economic Freedom Fighters are gravely concerned by the decision of the Minister of State Security Siyabonga Cwele declaring the Nkandla report Top-Secret, meaning that the Auditor-General and Public Protector will not have access to the report. The people of South Africa will not have access to information on how more R200 million of their money was spent in the private residence of Mr. Zuma.
How on earth can this particular Minister hide a report on how more than R200 million of State money was spent to upgrade the private residence of Mr. Jacob Zuma? How on earth can a ‘democratic and accountable' government duck and dive over such massive expenditures?
Now that the Nkandla report has been declared top-secret, it will only be fair to make the following conclusions:
- Mr. Jacob Zuma sanctioned the construction and renovation of his private residence using public funds, and was aware throughout the construction that those are not security upgrades as claimed by the Department of Public Works.
- Mr. Jacob Zuma and those involved approved their own contractors and builders who overpriced the construction of his private residence, and these people overpriced their services because they knew no one will hold them accountable.
- The Department of Public Works spent and paid more than was reasonable and required, and still cannot find sound reasons to justify why such expenditures were made.
- There is no law that justifies the actions of the State to engage in such callous expenditures, so the only route is to hide the information.
