"Pretoria 's name will for now remain Pretoria ," was the reaction of Dr. Pieter Mulder, Leader of the Freedom Front Plus, yesterday following the court case hearing about the name of the city.
According to Dr. Mulder, this was the implication of Judge Ismael's decision yesterday in the Pretoria High Court in which the application for a postponement was granted.
The Tshwane Metro Council argued that the interdict which had been granted in 2008 to the FF Plus and according to which Pretoria 's name remains Pretoria should be scrapped. That would have made it possible for the city council to continue with their planned name changes of Pretoria . The FF Plus argued and requested the court should be postponed and the previous interdict remain in place. Judge Ismael approved the postponement of the case in the light of a possible political solution. It is based upon President Zuma's reaction in Parliament about a possible political solution for the problem following talks between him and Dr. Mulder.
"This type of case will never be solved in a permanent manner through court cases. It remains temporary solutions. A permanent solution is only possible if the will for a political solution exists with the ANC. The FF Plus intends to continue with talks with Mr. Zuma about this issue," was the reaction of Dr. Mulder after the conclusion of the court case.
