EFF welcomes speakers decision not to proceed with suspension and commits to maintain robust debate in parliament

Economic Freedom Fighters has received communique that the Speaker of Parliament, Baleka Mbete will not proceed with suspension of EFF MPs. Instead, she has referred the matter to the Powers and Privileges Committee of parliament which will deal with allegations against EFF MPs.

The EFF welcomes this as one of the first vindications of its position and protest in parliament demanding that Jacob Zuma pays back the money unduly spent in Nkandla. EFF maintains that none of its MPs acted outside the rules of parliament, and that it will proceed to robustly demand answers from the executive without any fear or favour.
