Suspension lifted on NWU student – ChristianView Network

Suspension lifted on UNW student protesting forced LGBT indoctrination

13 February 2024

ChristianView Network thanks University of NorthWest for lifting Shaun Christie's suspension, given for protesting LGBT indoctrination of first year students.  He will be allowed to attend classes, while the university investigates the matter.  On Tuesday 6 February, most of the first-year students at the forced LGBT indoctrination event walked out, after Christie spoke up.  Our video on this has drawn so far almost 40 thousand views, 1.7 thousand likes and hundreds of comments supporting Shaun https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKugbv6jp9o  The UNW Vice Chancellor's personal assistants email address is now bouncing, presumably unable to handle the number of protest emails it is receiving after our call to write in.  The ACDP petition has almost 6 thousand signatures.

Last night we received an email from Louis Jacobs, Communications officer for UNW ". We will not tolerate the abuse of the human rights of any grouping at our institution. We pride ourselves in promoting a culture of diversity and inclusivity. The matter is currently being handled in terms of our student disciplinary processes, and we will not further comment on this in the media, until the investigation and following disciplinary process has been finalised. I think it is only fair to allow for these processes to be concluded."  We argue that Shaun Christie did not abuse anybody's rights, but that he was defending the human rights of the first year students, being abused by forced to attend an indoctrination session on LGBT, and which was not relevant to their academics and which they did not wish to – as demonstrated by most of them walking out after Shaun Christie spoke.  Shaun Christie did not disrupt anyone's free speech in a voluntary attendance forum, nor anything relevant to the academics of the university, nor has he expressed any hatred of LGBT people - and the University not given similar equal opportunity for Christians to present their views on marriage and sexuality.  Leading academic Helen Pluckrose, who is not a Christian, has argued persuasively that 'woke' ideology is a religion.  It is being given special privileged status at Universities and some countries as a 'state religion', with false charges of 'hate speech' or 'intolerance', the equivalent of 'blasphemy laws' to victimise those who don't accept such indoctrination.  It is the University and its LGBT indoctrination team that have abuse the human rights of students - not Shaun Christie.

We call on Professor Bismark Tyobeka, Vice Chancellor of the University of NorthWest to ensure that such indoctrination stops or give Christians equal time to present an alternative view - and withdraw the charges against Shaun Christie.  We also call for an end to LGBT indoctrination and victimization of dissenters other Universities and in our school system.
