Where is SA’s Opposition?

With only 41 Members present in the National Assembly this afternoon, the Opposition was decisively defeated.

Less than half of the MK caucus was present and only a quarter of the EFF caucus was present, leaving the opposition benches empty in a pathetic display of absence. Action SA and the UAT voted with the EFF and MK.

In stark contrast, 83% of the DA caucus (72 votes) was present to pass important money Bills that will help the South African economy move forward in the interest of all South Africans.

The vote, where 186 Members voted in favour, further underlines the fact that the DA is a vital component to the stability of the Government of National Unity (GNU) and we will continue to co-govern with our partners in the interest of the voters that elected us to represent them.

The Opposition is wholly disinterested in representing the people of South Africa. The question that needs to be asked is: where is South Africa’s opposition?
