Who is running the SIU in September?

Amidst the excitement that President Zuma has finally appointed an SIU head from the 1 October, it appears that there is uncertainty as to who is currently in charge.

Adv. Soni is only due to start on 1 October. We have been reliably informed that Adv. Nomvula Mokhatla made a hasty exit on Friday, and that Faik Davids was acting until Sunday, but that at the moment, nobody seems to know who is running the SIU.

There has apparently been no communication to staff at the SIU whatsoever.

We believe that it is crucial that the public, and indeed the staff at the SIU, are informed who is heading this crucial unit at the moment. The Justice Minister, who is acting President for the second time in two weeks, needs to clarify the situation.

It is simply unacceptable that this Unit has been left to languish in this manner.
