"Clear signals of autocratic dictatorship and the ultimate zanufication of the ANCYL"
The ANC Youth League in Limpopo has learnt with shock and dismay about the expulsion of Cde Stella Ndabeni from the organization for a mere crime of telling the truth in defense of her fellow comrade, Lehlogonolo Masoga. Cde Stella was never subjected to a normal internal due process and offered an opportunity to state her side of story in a fair and just process as demanded by the constitution of the ANCYL. If a maximum sentence can be imposed against a witness - what about the accused in this case?
This is yet another classical example of abuse of power and clear signals of autocratic dictatorship and the ultimate zanufication of the ANCYL. When the President of the ANCYL was faced with a possible hard penalty against him for violating ANC code of conduct he did not see any thing wrong to run to an ANC senior official to defend him yet they find it a worst crime for an NEC member of the ANCYL to vouch for his fellow comrade. Indeed we must not only be afraid but very afraid of the type of a movement and society we creating.
On 19th July 2010, the day at which the ANCYL National Disciplinary Committee will be passing the so called sentencing against our provincial chairperson Cde Masoga, our Deputy Provincial Secretary will be appearing before court on a case opened against her by the NEC of the ANCYL. This leadership has been protesting that organizational matters should not be resolved in courts but internally yet they are the ones who started with the culture of courts and still do not see anything wrong for as long as it benefits them. The leadership of the ANCYL in Limpopo will accompany Cde Thandi to court tomorrow upon which they will hold a Provincial Working Committee meeting to reflect on the state of the organization in the province, prepare a respond to the NDC outcome and map a way forward on the pending provincial conference.
