"Tragic end for Happy!" - Daily Sun

The front page and lead stories of SA's largest daily newspaper, April 2 2013

Daily Sun (April 2) - THE short, sad life of Happy Sindane is over. The light-skinned youngster shocked Mzansi 10 years ago when he claimed he was a kidnap victim. HE WAS FOUND DEAD YESTERDAY WITH HIS HEAD CRUSHED! Just two weeks ago, Happy (29) said: "I would like to have a wife and maybe a couple of kids. But I need to sort out my life. It is in tatters. "How can I have a wife if I don't have a place of my own?" That's what he said to the SunTeam in Tweefontein, near KwaMhlanga, Mpumalanga.

In 2003, the blond Ndebele-speaking youngster amazed Mzansi with his claim that he was a white kid. He said a domestic worker kidnapped him from his home in Joburg. Now his dreams will never come true. Tweefontein resident Zodwa Mahlangu said she and her sister saw a bloody cap near her gate yesterday morning. Then they found the body face down. Dirty water is all they have! No basic services in this place

THEY'RE forced to use dirty water to drink, cook and wash. The only source of water the people of the informal settlement of Kwakwatsi have is a pond filled by leaking water from a reservoir that services the neighbouring town. Those with money carry buckets and buy clean water from the main township in the Free State town of Koppies. The place has no electricity. See here for more...
