SACP (KZN) rejects Nzimande Inkatha allegation

Statement issued by Provincial Secretary Themba Mthembu October 14 2008

LIES AND INNUENDOS WILL NOT DESTROY THE GENERAL SECRETARY AND THE SACP

The SACP Kwazulu Natal has received with shock and disdains the utterances by one Justice Pitso who happen to be an MEC for Transport in Limpopo calling for the Suspension our General Secretary on the allegations that he was once an IFP member.

We want to put the record straight that Cde Blade Bonginkosi Emmanuel Nzimande is well known and respected within and among the struggle community dating back to the seventies. There has been no moment where Cde Blade Nzimande was ever associated with the IFP let alone being a member.

In fact what is known is that Cde Blade had to flee Umlazi Township in the 80's because of political harassment from a well known IFP warlord, Winnington Sabelo. Who then are these people who now are questioning the political bona fides of the General Secretary of the SACP, where were they in those days? The General Secretary never joined any party or organization in order to lead, be known and be counted but he has always joined an organization in order to serve.

The renewed attack on our General Secretary must be understood within a broader offensive against the SACP in the unfolding dynamics within the liberation movement and the Tripartite Alliance, in particular by a vociferously anti-communist element. The IFP membership allegations are nothing else other than a follow-up operation by backup foot soldiers of a failed smear campaign by Willie Madisha and his masters.

The trust and confidence to our General Secretary is always confirmed and increase as the political and social dynamics of South Africa unfold day to day.
