"Jealous nyatsi burns herself: Wanting to punish her lover she made a terrible mistake" - Daily Sun

The front page and lead story of SA's largest daily newspaper, May 7 2013

Daily Sun (May 7 2013)- WHEN the man told his nyatsi that he was going to live an honest life with his wife, the nyatsi went crazy. Armed with a 5 litre can of petrol, the jealous woman decided to attack her ex-lover's car with fire - but her plan of vengeance went horribly wrong . . . AND NOW THE SAD NYATSI WILL SPEND THE REST OF HER LIFE WITH A BADLY SCARRED BODY! The husband (41) told Daily Sun his days of cheating on his wife (25) were over. He had told the other woman (35) that he wanted to live an honest life and devote himself to his wife and fix his shaky marriage. But the nyatsi had other ideas! She had allegedly decided that if she had to give up the warmth of her lover's nest she wasn't going to walk away without taking revenge.

What the husband didn't know was the woman had gone to the filling station and bought a five litre can of petrol. He was relaxing with his wife in their RDP in Temba, Tshwane, on Saturday night when he saw the woman in the yard. The wife said she looked through the window and saw the woman pouring petrol on their car. "I was with my husband in the house when I smelled petrol," she told Daily Sun. "My husband ran outside to try and stop her and they started fighting about the can of petrol." It appears that the struggling couple didn't notice the petrol splashing all over them. The enraged woman still tried to set the car on fire. "The woman struck a match and suddenly they were covered in flames," said the wife.
