"Serial cheater bust again!" - Daily Sun

The front page and lead story of SA's largest daily newspaper, July 30 2014

Daily Sun (July 30 2014) - THEMBI always forgave her husband for being a serial cheater. But this time her kids gave her proof she couldn't ignore. There, on the cellphone, were photo's of her husband's half naked nyatsi.

"The children were playing games on my husband's cellphone when they brought me the phone," said a sad and disappointed Thembi Hlongwane (38), from Sebokeng in the Vaal.

"I immediately recognised the woman in the pictures because I know her."

That was on 9 July.

When Thembi confronted her husband of 13 years, at first he said it was a person from work but later confessed. "He told me he had been in a relationship with the woman since February," she said.

Thembi claimed it was not the first time her husband, Vusi Hlongwane, has cheated on her.

"He has cheated on me more than five times but I forgave him and let it go," she said.

"But this time I can't take it any more. I know the woman and she knows we are married."

Thembi said she loves her husband and it breaks her heart to see him cheating on her.

Thembi said her husband doesn't let anybody touch either of his two phones, but on that day he left one phone at the house. "My children are still asking who the woman they saw on their father's phone is, but I haven't spoken to them about it because I don't know what to tell them."

With the rage of a broken heart, Thembi confronted the other woman, known as Maria, who admitted to dating her husband and who said that he said he and Thembi weren't together anymore.

The SunTeam also spoke to Maria.  "I love Vusi. We have been in a relationship since February," she said.

"I know Thembi, but Vusi told me they were no longer married and he was single."

She said she never meant to cause trouble in Thembi's house. "If Vusi had been honest with me, I wouldn't be dating him," said Maria. She said she would apologise to Thembi for believing Vusi's lies.

When Daily Sun spoke to Thembi's angry husband, he said he won't speak to us until we met him in person. When we called back again and insisted on a comment, he said: "Don't call me again." Then he put down the phone.
