Daily Sun (January 7 2014) - BORN into poverty and orphaned when she was 16, life has not been easy for Ntsako Risiba.
But she took the challenge and fought back with all her might . . .
AND TODAY SHE CAN CELEBRATE HER VICTORY OVER ADVERSITY WITH SIX MATRIC DISTINCTIONS!
When her parents died in 2006 and 2010, Ntsako moved in with her gogo in Block H in Soshanguve, Tshwane, and made the most important decision of her life so far.
The brave girl decided to focus on her education and chose books to be her closest friends.
Ntsako has matriculated from Soshanguve Secondary School with six distinctions in maths, life orientation, accounting, economics, business studies and English.
Later today the brave girl will meet Gauteng Education MEC Barbara Creecy as one of the top performing pupils in accounting, for which she scored 100%.
Ntsako said she wanted to thank her three friends and study partners, Lebogang Maphutha, Simon Thela and Mpho Baloyi, who were also richly rewarded for their hard work.
Lebogang (18) achieved six distinctions, her subjects being maths, life orientation, English, accounting, business studies and economics.
Mpho (18) also got six distinctions. She excelled in physical science, life science, maths, life orientation, English and Pedi.
Simon (19) got five distinctions for maths, life orientation, accounting, economics and business studies.
He got a 100% pass in accounting and will also meet Creecy today.
The two friends will be joined by other top achieving matrics from across the province, where the MEC will announce the Gauteng matric results at Sci-Bono in Newtown, Joburg, from 10am.
The four friends said they studied hard and helped and encouraged each other and relied on guidance from God.
Ntsako is planning to study for a BCom. Her three friends are also planning to study for a BCom and BSc at various universities.
